Although many of us in yoga are onboard with the idea that not all POSES are one size fits all physically, can we look through the same lens for other concepts too?
A lot of teaching, cues and ideas are based on everyone being neurotypical when in reality we are all somewhere on a spectrum of neuro diversity and many have learnt to mask so efficiently awareness of masking isnt always conscious thought.
Some simple things we ask or guide towards in class generally may be out of reach initially or permanently, such as:
📍presence or awareness
📍fostering a listening & communicating relationship with yourself
📍awareness of aversions & attachments or being coerced into changing these
📍compassion or feelings
📍stillness
📍balance or equanimity, physical or mental
📍concepts of impermanence
Would it help us as teachers to remember that the bunch of keys and the lock dont belong to us but the student and our role is simply to help them sift through the key ring to find a potential way in rather than snatching the bunch off them and forcing or jamming any old key in?
