The Body Odyssey: explaining and understanding pain care providers
🙃Everyone has bias including those with the best intentions.
🤸🏽 The mobility teacher will always advocate that becoming more flexible with mobility drills will resolve pain.
🏋️♂️ The personal trainer will advocate that losing weight lifting weight will eradicate pain.
🥼The physiotherapist will advocate that their specific plan will find freedom from pain.
🧴The massage therapist will suggest hands-on therapy to eradicate pain.
🫁The yoga teacher will teach you to breathe through it .
❌So are all these things wrong?
✅Which one is right?
👩🏫Someone who genuinely understands pain will tell you with transparency that both and none of these things can be true at the same time.
🧩Pain is personal and although it can have shared characteristics, we must always be clear in that all or any of these interventions are just pieces in a personal jigsaw puzzle that piece together slowly over time.
🕰️ Whatsmore, it may not be the pieces or the puzzle but time itself that holds the answers.
🗣️Transparency and language are always key rather than definites look for maybes, transparency and understanding.
🗣️ The people that speak to you with this will be your best advocate or coach, amalgamating information, research and modalities rather than just advocating the one they sell 💸
I have a clear, accessible online resource coming that aims to give you, someone in your life or people you work with, greater education, understanding, choice and hope around pain, injury and discomfort – its for anyone and everyone.
