Sometimes we think we’re buying yoga but really we’re buying the story.
The story that says; I’m someone who takes care of myself. The story that says; Today I chose to pause.
The story that says; I listened when my body whispered instead of waiting for it to shout.
Corporate wellbeing works the same way. Management isn’t only investing in a yoga class. They’re investing in the story they can tell: that their people matter, that wellbeing isn’t just a line in a handbook, that they did something rather than nothing.
It’s easy to hear “story” and dismiss it as superficial but I’m not sure that’s fair.
Stories are how humans make sense of themselves. Every habit starts as a sentence we tell ourselves before it becomes something we do without thinking.
Maybe you came for the stretch. Maybe you came because your back hurt. Maybe you came because you wanted an hour away from your emails or maybe you simply wanted to be the kind of person who goes to yoga. All of those reasons are enough.
Todays story can become next month’s chapter. Enough chapters become a book and one day you look back at the library you’ve quietly written for yourself – not with dramatic plot twists but with dozens of small moments where you chose to show up.
Sometimes we buy the story sure, but sometimes the story slowly becomes fact not fiction. So buy the class, learn to read yourself and weave fabric into your plot, your chapters, your story.
