Play around with what feels good, and manageable for you individually.
And understand there is no rule book, no blueprint, and no way to get it right or wrong.
You can meditate in the morning, or in the evening, or both – there are no rules.
You can sit, lie down, use a chair or lean on a wall.
It can be long or short, there is no pass or fail.
Nothing magical will , happen, there will be no instant change, but over time we can cultivate positive change in our habits, mindset and use the simple pause in our day as a tool to help us cope with life. It is regaining our subtle power by taking a moment with ourselves.
It can be in a car park, at a desk or anywhere you choose. Perhaps at bedtime just to dial down our systems and allow rest. Make it bespoke, a true custom fit.
They are only thoughts we resolve to let them come and let them go. Think of the entire act of meditation as pick and mix.
Choose what, when, where and how works for you in that moment, on that day
Less rigid rules, more finding comfort becoming still and turning inwards. A custom fit. Created by you for you.
At first just listen to my voice/ sounds of your surroundings, then sometimes you will drift away from it and it will be almost background noise.
Eventually maybe tuning it out completely and allowing it to simply act as a timer. The mind will never be still, it is a thought generating machine, it’s perfectly normal to have a busy mind.
Half the battle with meditation is tapping into being at ease with yourself and finding a simple rather than overwhelming routine.
Play with what works for you, make it your own. Want a snuggly blanket? Go for it. Prefer to sit on your sofa? Perfect. Want to ritualise it with a candle, insense or even have a fresh brew waiting for you to finish? Do it. The trick is to lose expectations of what it should feel like ,lose expectations of what it should look like and customise the fit.
Are you ready? Are you steady? Let’s slow.
